1. Dental Decay

Dental decay is the most common means by which our teeth become damaged. It is a bacterial process where sugars, acids and plaque cause damage and loss of tooth structure. You may not be able to feel or see the damage yet decay will continue to eat away tooth until it is treated.

  • If the decay is caught very early then it can reversed with fluoride treatments. (image 1)
  • If the decay is caught later then it can be treated by dental fillings (image2)
  • If the decay is caught very late and it has progressed to the nerve space then root canal therapy is required. (image 3-5)
  • If the decay is caught too late then the tooth will require extraction
